DIII Basketball Week One Report:
The first week of the college basketball season has brought all of us in the division 3 circut some excitement- to say the least. Most notably, two shocking upsets in the New England region as Babson upended Jon Pierce and perrenial power Tufts in Medford, and Lassel College edging 9th ranked Brandeis in their home opener on Tuesday night. The big names certainly did not disapoint in these contests as Babson's Zach Etten transitioned to his new role as captian nicely with an outstanding line of 25 pts and 10 boards. Little known sophmore Shelton Ladson had a huge game, dropping 24 points including 3-5 from long range, and newcomer Lambros Papalambros (yes, thats right) had an impressive debut for the beavers dropping 19 points. For Tufts, junior standout Jon Pierce had 40 points. For Lassel College, little known Junior Sanival erupted for 23 points from the benefit of 7 threes and highly touted Jose Guitian chipped in with 8 boards. Elsewhere around the region, the world renowned state college of New Hampshire (Keene State and Plymouth state) have started off slow, going a combined 1-4. However, PSU has recieved strong play from 1st team all LEC performer Ben Huntington, and Keene States Tyler Kathan (number one selection oveall) has been solid thus far. Undrafted Brian Torres of Fitchburg State had an impressive debut with 38 points in FSU's opening win. Going into the weekend, it looks like Mike Ryan's soldiers and the Yankee Doodles will be battling it out to hold the top spot in the league. Look for guys like Hamidou Soumare (MIT), Torres, Craig Johnson (USCGA) and Dylan Holmes of Salem State (The Harvard of the North Shore) to continue their torrid start's offensively. Also, if you find time this weekend check out the SUNY old Westbury Classic in Oswego NY featuring the long awaited season debut Andrew Duncanson and the rest of Thomas College against Drew College(?) starting at 8pm. GO PANTHERS!!!!!!

TWIN TOWERS?!?!
Lost within last night's thrilling Babson victory was the emergence of Babson's starting frontcourt, led by superfrosh Kris "Bagels" Noonan and Patrick "Drop Me" Belniak.

Another first!
This must be the fastest one player has ever been dropped by two teams in any fantasy league ever. Congrats to Pat Belniak for an amazing combine to wow two different teams, unfortunately Pat is a character concern and a locker room cancer causing him to be quickly dropped. Lets hope this guy finds a home soon.

Sons of Matt Noone '08-'09
Boys, I first want to thank you for letting me bask in the glory of New England Division III basketball with you. Is there somewhere where I can see rosters so that I can build Sons of Matt Noone into the juggernaut it is destined to be?

Bob Barr 08
You're right Barton, I didn't vote for McCain. He's an american hero and a complete idiot. But to suggest that I support the next Fidel Castro and leader of the self imposed Civilian National Security Force similar to the actoins of hitler, is insulting and enraging.
I also would like to say that this league has a regular season limit of 160 GAMES. This means that if your games column has a 6, that you have used up 6 of the available 160 games. When you add a player that players previous games will not be added to your 160 nor will their previous stats be added to your totals.
That being said, congrats to Plymouth State on the early lead even though he has an astounding 10 games played. Another big conratulations to Juicy Campus for holding down last place with honor, and also our second biggest loser, Suffolk Rams. With a name like that school you deserve last by yourself. Another astounding feat is team Late Night in an amazing 3rd place despite drafting himself in the 3rd round. Maybe this kid knows what he's doing.
The only other thing I would like to say (besides for Barton to go fuck himself) is HAMIDOU SOUMARE!! 28pts, 15 rbs. From the great nation of MALI!! I may trade him for Norm de Silva straight up! He's THAT GOOD!!
Nice Spreadsheet
I applaud your work de silva
and i applaud the work of my undermanned team... i mean i had 3 guys play, for a total of 38 points scored... and i'm still ahead of one loser, i mean....
speaking of obama, norm bought an obama shirt in chicago, he got caught up in the hype... he also received fellatio from a woman with a tattoo with questionable morality... is this the man you think you know?

Norm cheats already
Norm I told you in class not to do this, if you did you would face the consequences in a public forum. YOU cheater. you didnt fucking draft the kid that dropped 38, therefore you cant just add his stats as if he was on your team the whole time. if you want to pick him up you can start keeping his stats after you pick him up... nitwit. so at the end of the year i can just pick up 8 guys with good stats from the whole year and win the league? have some integrity, i thought you siad you voted for mccain... with the way youre acting i smell a whole lotta obama. everyone agree with me? i would assume so because im right, believe me im a fantasy guru
Jaykyri Simpson
Also to avoid confusion I would like to note I drafted All-Conference stud big man Jaykyri Simpson from the University of New England, I believe he was listed in the draft results as Jaraki Simpson from WNEC, who I believe is not a real person.
Chumps
I think its funny that all these so called experts that came into the draft with their detailed lists with stats broken down now have to make additions and subtractions from their team less than a week into the season. Get a grip. Everyones wasting their time, did nobody see Hoosiers? An all-white team that sticks to the fundamentals will reign supreme. All of you guys selected me-me guys, really wanna build a franchise around some hoodlum with cornrows... good luck
remember this was the winning formula
Round Criteria

6 Best available player on d3 baseball champion trinity
7 Team had to start with a C
8 Jump-shooter like Jimmy from Hoosiers (team unity)

Horrible Pick
Drop: Patrick "Who?" Belniak, Babson College
Add: Brian "Leading Returning Scorer/Rebounder of SU (Yes that SU)" Small, Suffolk University
What was that pick about? Picking you and Belniak on the same fantasy squad is like picking the Cracker and Big Norm to be your 3 on 3 team in your backyard...

Sleeper Pick Up of the Year
drop: Mac Simpson - Colby
add: Brian Torres - Fitchburg State
My fellow southeastern MA alumnus dropped 38 points, 4 threes, 7 boards, and 4 steals on Duda and the Clark Cougars.

New Stat Category - Steals + Blocks
I have come to propose a new category. Since steals and blocks by themselves would be unreasonable when saying it has the same weight as points or rebounds, I have come up with the idea to put them in their own category. Steals + Blocks.
This would make 5 categories for the Rotisserie Style league.
POINTS / REBOUNDS / ASSISTS / 3PTMADE / STEALS+BLOCKS
If anyone has an objection to this, please post and we will solve the issue.

Draft - Wednesday Night 10/12 7pm
The 2008-2009 Babo DIII Basketball Fantasy Draft will occur Wed night @ 7pm in B1. If you aren't here you will be forced to pick a team from the available players left. I will update this blog every week or so, and I will also post the draft results on here. Also any Free Agent acquisitions must be posted to the blog. Remember when doing your research that this will be Rotisserie Style... the categories will be POINTS, REBOUNDS, ASSISTS AND 3-POINTERS MADE. We have decided to leave out Steals and Blocks because it is rare to find someone in D3 averaging more than 2-2.5 a game. So we felt these 4 categories would be strong enough. Remember you can only pick players from teams that are in New England. Also we are planning to have 8 Rounds.
GOOD LUCK AND SEE YOU WEDNESDAY
