DIII Basketball Week One Report:
The first week of the college basketball season has brought all of us in the division 3 circut some excitement- to say the least. Most notably, two shocking upsets in the New England region as Babson upended Jon Pierce and perrenial power Tufts in Medford, and Lassel College edging 9th ranked Brandeis in their home opener on Tuesday night. The big names certainly did not disapoint in these contests as Babson's Zach Etten transitioned to his new role as captian nicely with an outstanding line of 25 pts and 10 boards. Little known sophmore Shelton Ladson had a huge game, dropping 24 points including 3-5 from long range, and newcomer Lambros Papalambros (yes, thats right) had an impressive debut for the beavers dropping 19 points. For Tufts, junior standout Jon Pierce had 40 points. For Lassel College, little known Junior Sanival erupted for 23 points from the benefit of 7 threes and highly touted Jose Guitian chipped in with 8 boards. Elsewhere around the region, the world renowned state college of New Hampshire (Keene State and Plymouth state) have started off slow, going a combined 1-4. However, PSU has recieved strong play from 1st team all LEC performer Ben Huntington, and Keene States Tyler Kathan (number one selection oveall) has been solid thus far. Undrafted Brian Torres of Fitchburg State had an impressive debut with 38 points in FSU's opening win. Going into the weekend, it looks like Mike Ryan's soldiers and the Yankee Doodles will be battling it out to hold the top spot in the league. Look for guys like Hamidou Soumare (MIT), Torres, Craig Johnson (USCGA) and Dylan Holmes of Salem State (The Harvard of the North Shore) to continue their torrid start's offensively. Also, if you find time this weekend check out the SUNY old Westbury Classic in Oswego NY featuring the long awaited season debut Andrew Duncanson and the rest of Thomas College against Drew College(?) starting at 8pm. GO PANTHERS!!!!!!

TWIN TOWERS?!?!
Lost within last night's thrilling Babson victory was the emergence of Babson's starting frontcourt, led by superfrosh Kris "Bagels" Noonan and Patrick "Drop Me" Belniak.

Another first!
This must be the fastest one player has ever been dropped by two teams in any fantasy league ever. Congrats to Pat Belniak for an amazing combine to wow two different teams, unfortunately Pat is a character concern and a locker room cancer causing him to be quickly dropped. Lets hope this guy finds a home soon.
